The inauguration of the 32nd Bydgoszcz Opera Festival is planned to feature the first-ever staging of Gaetano Donizetti's opera Lucia of Lammermoor on the Bydgoszcz opera stage. This opera, composed to a libretto based on Walter Scott's romantic novel, will be directed by the outstanding American artist Thaddeus Strassberger - opera director, set and costume designer, author of over 75 stagings in 15 countries, including London's Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, Los Angeles Opera and Theater an der Wien, winner of the 2005 European Opera Award for direction and set design.
