description

This opera has everything that fascinates in Verdi's art – dramatic arias, expressive duets, and powerful choral scenes that draw the audience into a world full of love, betrayal, and passion. "Luisa Miller", one of Giuseppe Verdi's most beautiful operas, had its Polish premiere just a few months ago!

It is a touching story about love, power, and betrayal, unfolding against the backdrop of the dramatic fates of the main characters. Verdi's masterful music underscores the emotional tension between the title character Luisa – a young girl from a modest home – and Rodolfo – the son of a count, whose love is brutally tested by behind-the-scenes intrigues.

Verdi's opera, based on Friedrich Schiller's play "Intrigue and Love", had been practically unknown in Poland – it was performed only once in a concert version at the Baltic Opera in 2001. Finally, in the fall of 2024, the Silesian Opera in Bytom, in cooperation with Grand Avignon Opera, Opera de Tours (France), and Teatro di Como (Italy), took on the challenge of staging the Polish premiere of this Italian masterpiece.

Although this opera tells a classic love story, as the distinguished creators of this new production emphasize, the work reflects emotions and issues that remain relevant today.

The production of "Luisa Miller. Intrigue and Love" has already won the hearts of audiences at the Silesian Opera in Bytom. Now this international production will make its mark in the history of the XXXI BOF!

New Dimensions of Dance and Music

Two female and two male dancers engage in an extraordinary dialogue with a soloist playing the viola da gamba, creating the performance “Phénix”, in which we witness an unexpected encounter between hip-hop dance and the sound of an ancient instrument. The uniqueness of this combination is further highlighted by occasional electro sounds, inspired by the music of J. S. Bach.

The ballet and the Orchestra of Opera Nova, together with the production team, received a standing ovation. And this is only the beginning of the 31st Bydgoszcz Opera Festival, whose program promises many exceptional artistic exp...
